Sugar Ants:
These common Indoor invaders are drawn to sweet and moist areas and are usually the first pest homeowners notice in kitchens and pantries.
Although harmless to humans, Sugar Ants can contaminate food and surfaces by walking through unsanitary areas. They will nest in wall voids, under floors and outdoors in garden soil.
What other types of ants should I look out for?
Pavement Ants
Found nesting beneath Sidewalks and Driveways, these ants commonly invade homes in search of food.
Although minimal risk, these ants can displace soil under pavement causing minor surface cracking overtime as well as food contamination. They can also sting, but rarely do as their main concern is food when foraging indoors.
Harvester Ants
Large, seed collecting ants, common in Arizona yards, are identifiable by their bare, cleared mounds in sunny open areas.
These types of ants have a painful sting that can cause allergic reactions to sensitive individuals. They become even more aggressive when their mound is disturbed.
Fire Ants
These ants are aggressive and sting, mainly identifiable by their dome shaped mounds in lawns, can cause severe allergic reactions and are a serious threat, especially if their mound is disturbed.
Fire ants can invade electrical equipment and HVAC systems causing short circuits. Their mounds can damage lawns and landscaping.
How we handle ants
Once we recognize the issue, we start with an initial deep service. Full interior baseboard and cabinet treatment, exterior perimeter, eaves dewebbing, garage, granular barrier around the foundation. If these pests show back up between revisits we complete a full free re-treatment.
