Common Spiders
Mostly harmless and beneficial, some spiders naturally control insect populations but can be a nuisance indoors.
These include: The Common House Spider, Jumping Spiders, Cellar Spiders, Wolf Spiders and Hobo Spiders.
Some bites from common household spiders, however, can cause minor irritation.
High Risk Spiders
Black Widow
Known as one of the most venomous spiders in North America, Black Widows are normally spotted in dark, dry secluded spots.
They are Jet black, Shiny and round bodied. Females bear the red hourglass on the underside of the abdomen.
Although there is little property damage, their venom is highly dangerous. It can cause severe muscle cramps, pain, nausea and can be life threatening for children and elderly individuals.
Brown Recluse
A reclusive but medically significant spider, the brown recluse is highly venomous. Its bite can cause serious tissue damage and requires prompt medical attention.
These spiders are light tan to dark brown with a dark violin shaped making on the dorsal thorax
They do not cause property damage, but they are a hidden hazard due to its reclusive nature in stored boxes and belongings. Their Bite can cause necrotic tissue damage, systemic illness, and in rare cases, complications requiring surgery.
